Twitter can now show you ads based on apps you've downloaded

Twitter is about to get a lot better at showing you ads for news apps.

Advertisers are now able to show you ads based on the apps you've previously downloaded, Twitter announced Wednesday.

The new tool, which is available now to advertisers, is officially called "installed app category targeting." The goal is to allow marketers to target their ads specifically to users who have previously installed similar apps.

"For example, an advertiser who wants to drive installs of a task management app can select the “Productivity” category to reach users who have recently installed similar apps," Twitter's project manager for revenue, Deepak Rao, writes in a blog post. "That same advertiser may know that productivity app users also tend to use finance apps, so they can target the “Finance” category to connect with new people who are likely to be interested in their app." Read more...
